Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) Criminal Investigations Division Violent Crimes detectives are actively searching for a suspect involved in a shooting at a home on July 31.

Uziel Hernandez-Perez, 19, is wanted on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and four counts of reckless endangerment after allegedly firing shots into an occupied residence on Fourth Avenue. The house was occupied by five people, all of whom were asleep at the time and were not injured. A minivan parked in the driveway was also struck by a bullet.

The MPD Real Time Crime Center's gunshot detection system alerted officers to the gunfire at 12:44 a.m. on July 31. An officer from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) Police Department witnessed a Honda sedan leaving the area. Using License Plate Reader technology, crime data analysts identified the vehicle's license plate number, leading detectives to a home on Twin Oak Drive.

While executing a search warrant at the Twin Oak Drive residence, detectives discovered approximately 22.2 pounds of vacuum-sealed marijuana. Bruna Iveth Animas-Flores, 46, and Rafael Bocanegra Trejo, 51, were arrested and charged with felony Schedule VI drug offenses, maintaining a dwelling for drug use, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A Glock handgun, believed to have been used in the shooting, was recovered from the home.

Detectives believe the shooting stemmed from an ongoing feud involving the shooter and one of the people inside the home. Hernandez-Perez remains at large.

Animas-Flores and Trejo are being held on $52,500 bond at Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. A hearing is set for Oct. 1 in General Sessions Court.
